It's the Beginning of a New Year and time for a new look.  Now is the perfect time for an American made makeover.  Take some time for you and get yourself ready for 2014 by putting your best face forward.  I have pulled some ideas together, including old and new favorites, to propel your style forward.

Step 1:

Keep a great looking complexion.  A flawless face isn't all about the makeup, it truly starts with healthy skin.  Josie Maran Argan Oil provides tons of moisture and a semi matte finish.

Step it up with a weekly exfoliation, my recommendation is Buff Her.  A weekly exfoliation will keep dead skin from building up and keep flaky, patchy and dull skin away.

Step 2:

Use a new lip color.  Lipstick in a bold color is trendy now.  Lipstick is a great way to look polished with minimal effort.  Red Apple Lipstick has great moisturizing shades with build-able color.

Before I was introduced to Red Apple Lipstick I often went to Jane Iredale Pure Moist Lip Color or L'Oreal (any formula), both still great made in USA choices.

Step 3:

Get some volume on those eyelashes.  A good lengthening and voluminous mascara will do wonders for waking up your look.  Maybelline Falsies is an inexpensive mascara that is easily applied and removed.  This is my personal favorite.

Step 4:

Get a new hairstyle.  Book an appointment with a local hairstylist to get a complete new do or for a blowout.  During your blow out ask for tips on a few ways to style your current hair and watch her for the tips and tricks.   Sebastian Shaper has the perfect hold.

Step 5:

Keep everything pulled together with a pretty manicure.  Almost all of the best nail polishes are made in the USA, which is a great thing.  I really love the boutique and high fashion feel of brands like Priti NYC, Mint and Deborah Lippman.  They aren't available everywhere and this gives them a little more exclusivity.  The result is a more unique shade for you.

If you are a DIY'er, go ahead and get your supplies ordered and sift through some of my at home beauty tips to get your own pro-like results at home.  Now, if you are a woman who likes to work with a professional live and in person when updating your look, book an appointment.  Supporting your local salons and stylists is a great way to support the American economy.
