An easy way to do this is by playing with color.
I shared ideas for updating your look by adding inexpensive pieces to your wardrobe. Today’s feature, however, focuses on an easy way to update your home with the newest line from BEHR – BEHR MARQUEE Interior Paint & Primer. Update your home with a fresh coat of paint. The easiest way to update a room is by adding a bright or bold colored accent wall to a neutral painted room. In case you’ve never painted before, I like to equate painting walls to painting your nails. Here are my simple painting tips for your walls to look they were painted professionally.
- It’s shape up time, first! Spackle any holes from previously hanging photos. Fill the holes with spackle. You might have to do this twice. Sand down the area so it’s flush with the wall. This is KEY because if you don’t do this well, it will look sloppy even after the final coat is done.
- Don’t skip the base coat. Don’t even think about skipping the priming step. You must prime your wall, even if there aren’t any holes to spackle. It affects the final finish, so don’t take any short cuts.
- Take care around the edges and be methodical with the roller. Don’t drench your brush or roller in paint. You want to get even amounts of paint in all areas.
- Make sure to put a top coat on. You’ll want to paint two coats of the wall color, especially if the color is dark. If you go over the first coat, you’ll notice areas where paint didn’t reach, so the second coat is quite crucial.

Behr paint is something I would love to use in my kitchen to change the color. The white is old and so dingy. We live in an older home (built in 1900) but it was remodelled and is horrid. I think a nice cheery yellow (pale) would be so nice.

I have not tried Behr Marquee before but I have used their premium Plus eggshell semi gloss and it is easy to clean the areas painted with it and important.

My son worked for a pro painter for several years and he said they preferred to use Behr paint… when the client could afford it! I said well, I wondered because I almost fainted away at the price of it. I have read great reviews about Behr paint, but did not afford it for myself.
