Safe, Non-Toxic Glass
Glass containers made in the USA don’t contain phthalates or bisphenol-A (BPA). They also are free from cadmium, lead, and other heavy metals. Choose containers made from soda-lime glass or Borosilicate glass. Glass is non-porous, which makes it the safest choice for hot food or cold. Even though it’s heavier to transport and may not be the best for kids’ lunches, most, if not all, of our glass selections can go from freezer to microwave to dishwasher. And while glass obviously can break, food storage glass is tempered to resist breaking or shattering.

Sadly, some of the lids for our USA-made containers come from overseas. We could find no bamboo lids made on American soil. While we still recommend some of the glass and plastic containers, proceed with caution when you reheat foods and use the lids made elsewhere.
A Note About Tupperware
Tupperware and its “burping” lids hit the market back in 1946. It remains a popular go-to brand for storing foods. We reached out to the company, requesting it specify which of its products are made in the USA, and Tupperware said this: “Unfortunately, we don't have specific information about where each item has been made, please note Tupperware has manufacturing plants in Belgium, Brazil, France, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, the Philippines, Portugal, South Africa, and the United States, and leases manufacturing and distribution facilities in China, India, and Venezuela.”
How to Care for Your American-Made Non-Toxic Food Storage Containers
Regardless of the material your containers are made from, be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions on how to care for them. Hi Audrey- There are currently no stainless steel food grade containers, or even water bottles made in the USA. This is due to the cost of manufacturing these products in the USA- labor cost, supply chain, infrastructure. They would be more expensive than what consumers would pay to keep a company in business.
